Natalie's Story:
Educator. Wife and Mother. Cancer Survivor.

Early in her 28-year career with Pocatello School District 25, Natalie didn't expect a life-changing diagnosis.

Still, in 1996, she purchased a Limited Benefit Cancer Insurance policy from American Fidelity.

"I signed up because my mom was diagnosed with breast cancer, and it freaked me out a little bit," she said. "I wanted to be prepared in case something were to happen."

In 2017—two decades after purchasing the cancer policy—Natalie received an unexpected diagnosis during her yearly mammogram.

"They called me back in, and it was cancer."

An Aid in Recovery

As Natalie began chemotherapy and radiation, she had no idea how much her treatment would cost.

"When you have cancer, you have a lot of things to worry about," she said. "We can't get better if we're so stressed out about finances."

Thankfully, her cancer insurance helped relieve some of that financial burden. According to Natalie, it even helped with her recovery:

"It's one less thing you have to stress about, and one less thing you have to fight for."

Looking to the Future

Today, Natalie has finished her treatment and remains an advocate for annual wellness checks and diagnostic screenings. "You have to be really diligent in taking care of yourself," she said. "In a year's time, I was fine and then I had cancer."

When life takes an unexpected turn, American Fidelity can help with cancer insurance.
