Video Transcript:
Chris Fox: I thoroughly enjoy helping people. There's a lot of challenges that we incur every day. With the amount of money that we spend, there's a lot of liability with that. There's a lot of responsibility in overseeing public funds.
Kristine Blind: There's compliance in so many different areas that we really just don't have the knowledge about, and so knowing that we're solely responsible for that, yet not having the proper training or the time or manpower to manage that definitely keeps me up at night.
Shannon Cox: That's not our gig. That's not our expertise, and so we made a decision between our treasurer's office, our HR department, and my office to partner with American Fidelity to make sure that we could bring in subject matter experts who were also just good with people, who cared about the human value of what we had to offer.
Kristine Blind: So bringing American Fidelity in to take care of that burden was a huge relief.
Chris Fox: When we were approached for you guys to come in and partner with us, how do we turn that away when they are offering to help the staff that you oversee that provide services to our kids around the state?
Kristine Blind: The peace of mind that I have, knowing that American Fidelity is watching over everything, and I'm compliant in all the areas that I need to be, I don't know what I don't know, and I'm sure there are areas that I wasn't even aware that I needed to be watchful of or be compliant in, so I no longer have that stress.
Shannon Cox: Our staff was well educated on what their options were, what the benefits were, how it played a part in their own personal life, and who had the time, the actual time to dedicate to meet with each one of our employees separately and independently to make sure that they felt like there was that one-on-one connection with somebody who really cared about them.
Kristine Blind: They are an extension of my staff, and it's a huge relief, a huge benefit.
Chris Fox: We've got 600 employees here at Montgomery County ESC. You all take 20 minutes per meeting to meet with staff. That is roughly 200 hours. That's five weeks of my time that I've gotten back.
Kristine Blind: American Fidelity is amazing at communication. I'm always notified by American Fidelity. I don't have to worry about what's changing out there in the legislature, or is the IRS gonna change the contribution limits? They notify me all the time, and it lets me focus more on the important day-to-day tasks.
Shannon Cox: It's not done in isolation. You're not just turning it over to someone who's gonna go rogue. It's a relationship, and it's a good relationship to have, and it makes, again, it makes our staff feel at ease as they're making those decisions about their benefits.
Chris Fox: So working with one provider has eased frustration and gave us the ability to just make one phone call.
