American Fidelity Named One of Fortune Magazines Best Companies to Work For
Thursday, February 15, 2018
American Fidelity has once again been named one of the 100 “Best Companies to Work For” as recognized by global research and consulting firm Great Place to Work® and Fortune Magazine. American Fidelity is the highest ranked Oklahoma-based company on the 2018 list and this is the twelfth time that American Fidelity has been awarded this honor.
American Fidelity ranked No. 59 on the list, which is based on survey responses from more than 310,000 employees rating their workplace culture on 50-plus elements of the workplace. These include trust in managers, compensation, fairness, camaraderie and workplace traits linked to innovation. Great Place to Work research shows that list winners keep outperforming the stock market, beating industry rivals when it comes to talent retention and demonstrating higher levels of productivity than peers.
The average tenure is about ten years, with many Colleagues celebrating their 30th and even 40th anniversaries with the company. There is also a strong emphasis on promoting from within. Colleagues know that where you start doesn’t have to be where you end.
Here are just a few of the quotes Colleagues shared about working at American Fidelity:
“I have never worked for a company who gathered their employees into a meeting to be transparent about changes within the company, and wanting to engage everyone. A lot of companies talk about being transparent, but never really walk the walk when it comes down to it. That for me, was a defining moment that I knew I wanted to stay and grow at American Fidelity,” Jennifer Greenwood, conservation sales rep.
“I think the easiest way for me to know that AFA is a great place to work is the pride I take in telling other people where I work. It's easy for me to boast about all the wonderful things that are taking place and how much I'm appreciated as a Colleague,” said Kellen Stokes, group underwriting manager.
“I love that we have the opportunity to work from home. It is nice to work for a company that has faith in its employees,” said Samantha Hernandez, accountant.
“Working here at AF is more like being a part of a family than part of a corporation. Everything we do is geared around others and not self,” said Scott Long, sales manager.
