Training Magazine Recognizes American Fidelity Assurance
Company Ranks No. 91 on Training Top 125
(Oklahoma City, OK) – American Fidelity Assurance Company (AFA) has made the Training Magazine Top 125 list for the ninth consecutive year. The list recognizes companies that provide excellent training and development programs for their colleagues.
“At AFA we believe that growing as a Company requires continuous education and learning for our Colleagues,” said David McLaughlin, talent management team leader. “With nearly 50 percent of our positions being filled internally, it’s imperative that we provide learning and career development opportunities to our Colleagues to keep the Company moving forward. Our training programs are vital for our continuing success.”
AFA was recognized in 2012 by the Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education for offering our Colleagues the opportunity to get their degree onsite. Through an arrangement with Oklahoma City Community College, enrollment services, guidance counseling and classes are offered onsite. Basic courses such as English and math are provided free to Colleagues, while other courses qualify for our tuition reimbursement program. The program began in 2011 and we have had about 60 participants in the program so far.
AFA also offers onsite training to all Colleagues, ranging from courses on Customer service to computer skills. Our new Colleague orientation, StartSmart, is a week-long training that introduces new Colleagues to the Company history, values, expectations and more. AFA offers a DISC course that helps Colleagues understand work styles and those of others and why all are important to the Company. These are just a few of the training courses that allow Colleagues to grow at AFA.
Leadership development classes are available, along with a mentorship program. Colleagues can receive assistance in obtaining industry certifications and can meet with a career development specialist to discuss what specific training options they should take to pursue the next step in their careers.
Training magazine's annual awards program recognizes employer-sponsored training and development. The judging is based on an extensive application process and includes many factors, such as financial commitment, programs offered, metrics measured and methods of evaluation.
