American Fidelity Ranked No. 27 on IDG’s Computerworld’s Annual List of Best Places to Work in Information Technology
OKLAHOMA CITY, OK – American Fidelity Assurance Company, based in Oklahoma City, once again made Computerworld’s list of Best Places to Work in IT. Coming in at No. 27, this is AFA’s 10th consecutive appearance on the list.
“Making the Computerworld list recognizes the more than 200 Colleagues in our information services division and motivates them to continue making AFA a great place to work in IT,” said Kim Fisher, chief information officer. “It also helps us recruit top talent in the field and highlights our commitment to success.”
The Best Places to Work in Information Technology (IT) list is an annual ranking of the top 100 work environments for technology professionals compiled by IDG’s Computerworld. The list is based on a comprehensive questionnaire regarding company offerings in categories such as benefits, diversity, career development, training and retention. In addition, Computerworld conducts extensive surveys of IT workers, and their responses factor heavily in determining the rankings.
American Fidelity was ranked sixth among the list’s small companies.
“Making the Computerworld list is a source of pride for our team and gives us a chance to take time to celebrate our successes from the last year,” Jessica Sanders, business analyst, said. “I think one of the reasons we make this list is our collaborative, cross-team environment. We have an entire work space devoted to collaborative projects, allowing team members to work through challenges and problems using Smart Board technology and track project progress on the walls for high visibility and easy reference for joint decision making.”
In addition to appearing on the rankings as a division, Fisher appeared on Computerworld’s rankings last year as one of the Premier 100 IT Leaders for 2011.
It is the second high-profile workplace honor American Fidelity has received this year. The Company was named in January to Fortune magazine’s list of the “100 Best Companies to Work for in America” for the ninth straight year.
Computerworld cited American Fidelity’s promote from within policy, flexible work schedules, an on-site fitness center, discounts on tickets to movies and sporting events, an award-winning wellness program and a range of community-oriented activities such as food drives and blood drives.
"The organizations on this year's Best Places to Work in IT list consistently seek out and hire the most talented IT people, offer them competitive pay and provide great benefits," said Scot Finnie, editor in chief of Computerworld. "Many of these organizations have spent years building top-notch IT workplaces, and we applaud the amazing work they've done to sustain dynamic environments where IT professionals can work with the latest technologies and play a key role in business-critical projects."
Since 1994, Computerworld’s annual “Best Places to Work in IT” feature has ranked the top 100 work environments for technology professionals, based on a comprehensive questionnaire regarding company offerings in categories such as benefits, diversity, career development, training and retention.
